Over the past 15 years I have introduced various programs to our chapter.  I have named my most recent initiative “Cause Marketing.”  Our chapter used funds raised from a weekly raffle we started ten years ago to provide a car for West Berkshire Mencap.  Mencap is delighted, and BNI Jack O’Newbury chapter now has an even stronger and visible presence in the community.

West Berkshire Mencap provides high quality services for people with learning disabilities as well as their families and caregivers.

BNI Jack O’ Newbury and the businesses related to this chapter have kindly supported West Berkshire Mencap for a number of years. They have provided generous help in many areas, including providing presents for our Bubble Club’s Christmas Party for children aged 0 – 5 years with learning disabilities. The members take part in fundraising endeavours and other events too.

Last year, Alan May, a BNI Jack O’Newbury member, kindly asked Berkshire Mencap if he could help with transport. Vehicle costs are prohibitive for a charity, and divert precious funds that help pay for equipment, fun activities, and other services that Berkshire Mencap provides. The provision of a vehicle has allowed them to direct all their funds to these valuable services.

Carrie-Anne Ferrie of West Berkshire Mencap said, “We can’t express how grateful we are and how much we appreciate Jack O’ Newbury’s ongoing support and the continued difference it makes to us as a local charity. We would like to thank them for everything they do to support us.”

West Berkshire Mencap is a local charity that supports people with learning disabilities to enable them to fulfil their potential in life. They provide a range of services, from providing sports, leisure and drama activities to finding suitable employment and developing independent living skills. As a voluntary organisation the charity needs to raise funds in order to continue its work in the community.
